The premise of this PFCC challenge was to pick one of the empty windows, shown on the right below, fill it with stained glass and used the stained glass window in a scene. It sounds so easy, right? Not really. Making the colors look like glass took quite a long time. First you have to decide what colors you want, and what pattern multiple colored panes will make. Then add a little bumpy texture, and make the glass at least somewhat transparent. I worked the longest on the cow pasture image, below, as I wanted the wallpaper to show thru the panes of colored glass. That’s the image I finally submitted, even though it’s too busy to tell a good story. I like the desert wanderer better (which took less time) — it is simple, yet dramatic. I also played with a photograph I took many years ago of the inside if the chapel on Mackinac Island; changing the random glass panes to a diamond pattern. The original photo is show on the left below. I also played with putting windows in an actual church scene, but didn’t finish it. I think it needs a different color cast on the windows.
On another note, The last two weeks of October was a book cover redesign Photoshop challenge from Adobe. You can see my challenge work at https://www.behance.net/rediess
Take care and stay well.
